Abdusalom Khatamov was born on 22 November 1971 in Syrdarya Region, Republic of Uzbekistan.

He graduated from the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies in 1993 and has undergone the diplomacy courses in Arab Republic of Egypt in 2001. Mr Khatamov devoted more than three decades to public service and diplomacy. Throughout his distinguished career, he has held various academic, consular, and diplomatic positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and at Uzbekistan’s diplomatic missions abroad.

Mr Khatamov began his professional career as a lecturer at Bukhara State University, where he worked from 1994 to 1998. He subsequently joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, serving in different capacities at the Ministry’s branch office in Bukhara from 1999 to 2003.

From 2003 to 2006, he served at the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Arab Republic of Egypt as Attaché. Upon returning to Uzbekistan, he continued his service at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, holding several senior positions within the Consular Department, including Second Secretary, First Secretary, Acting Head of Division, and Head of Division.

Mr Khatamov also served at the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia between 2010 and 2015 in various diplomatic capacities, including First Secretary. In 2015, he briefly served at the Department for Analysis and Development of Proposals on Topical Issues of International Cooperation and Security of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

From 2015 to 2018, he once again headed a division within the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Between 2018 and 2024, he served as Consul General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Yekaterinburg, Russian Federation.

Since February 2024, Mr Khatamov has been serving as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Sultanate of Oman. In addition, since September 2025, he has been concurrently accredited as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Lebanese Republic and the Republic of Kenya, with residence in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman.

He is fluent in Arabic, Russian and English.

Mr Khatamov is married and has three children.
