President Paul Kagame of the Republic of Rwanda visited the Land of Frankincense Museum in Salalah, as part of his official visit to Oman. Upon his arrival, he was received by Engineer Ibrahim bin Said Al Kharusi, Undersecretary for Heritage at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, along with Ministry officials.

President Kagame and his accompanying delegation toured the Museum, where they received a detailed briefing on its contents, halls and exhibits, which  showcase Oman’s cultural and historical heritage and its deeply rooted civilisational legacy.

In the History Hall, which comprises six main sections, President Kagame viewed exhibits reflecting the distinctive features of Omani identity. These included the Geography of Oman section, which presents maps and key information on Oman’s terrain and diverse environments, and the Oman in Ancient Times section, which documents archaeological evidence of human settlement, the development of crafts and economic activities, as well as the flourishing copper trade and relations with the civilisations of Mesopotamia, India and China.

He also visited the Land of Frankincense section, which highlights the historical role of Dhofar Governorate as a major centre for the production and export of frankincense and its role in establishing trade and cultural links extending to the Mediterranean, Red Sea and Mesopotamia.

President Kagame also visited the Islamisation of Oman section, which displays examples of manuscripts and documents documenting the voluntary adoption of Islam by the people of Oman and their contribution to spreading its values and knowledge. He also viewed the Glimpses of Omani History section, which presents key milestones in the country’s political and civilisational development.

In the Maritime Hall, President Kagame viewed seven sections highlighting the Omanis’ longstanding connection with the sea and their trade relations with peoples around the world. He also saw models of traditional vessels showcasing their expertise in building sailing ships and boats.

He received a briefing on the Sailing section, which highlights navigation skills throughout history, and the Trade section, which illustrates the network of historic ports, including Sumhuram, Al Baleed and Sohar, and their pivotal role in connecting the region with global markets.

He also visited the Virtual Maritime Reality section, which recreates the environment of ancient navigation, and the Renaissance section, which showcases the development of ports and maritime transport in modern Oman.

President Kagame also visited the Central Bank of Oman exhibition of banknotes and coins. The exhibition features currency issued by the Central Bank of Oman, Islamic coins minted in Oman up to 1970, and commemorative coins issued by the Central Bank of Oman.

At the conclusion of his visit, the President of Rwanda signed the Museum’s visitors’ book, expressing his pleasure at visiting the Museum and his appreciation of its cultural and civilisational significance. He noted its importance in strengthening cultural cooperation between the two friendly countries.

Rwandan President Paul Kagame also visited Razat Royal Farm in Salalah Governorate.

Upon his arrival, he was received by Nasr bin Hamoud Al Kindi, Secretary General of the Royal Court Affairs and Engineer Hilal bin Mohammed Al Waili, Chairman of the Royal Horse, Camel, Farms and Gardens Affairs at the Royal Court Affairs.

At the beginning of his visit, President Kagame was briefed on the history of the farm and its objectives, as well as its capabilities and facilities that contribute to developing agricultural and livestock production in line with best practice and modern approaches. The farm also offers a unique tourism experience that makes agriculture an attraction for tourism and economic activity, in line with Oman’s efforts to support and develop the agricultural sector.

President Kagame toured various facilities of the farm, where he viewed its agricultural and livestock components, including different agricultural fields such as coconut and banana plantations and various fruit and vegetable crops. He also viewed the livestock at the farm and learned about its specialised facilities, including the veterinary clinic, laboratories and a dairy production plant and its products.
