Uzbekistan: Omani delegation explores documentary and scientific cooperation

A delegation headed by Dr Hamad bin Mohammed Al Dhawiani, Chair of the Sultanate of Oman’s National Records and Archives Authority, accompanied by AlSayyida Wafa Albusaidi, Oman’s Ambassador to the Republic of Uzbekistan, visited several archival, scientific, intellectual and cultural institutions in Samarkand, Bukhara and Tashkent.

The visit explored prospects for documentary and scientific cooperation and opportunities to conduct joint studies and research into historical links with Central Asia.

Discussions also covered the use of documents, manuscripts and historical sources to record these ties and highlight their development over the centuries.

The National Records and Archives Authority and the Abu Rayhan Al Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies agreed to activate their existing memorandum of cooperation.

They will pursue practical cooperation in microfilming, manuscript restoration and preservation, catalogue studies and providing copies of manuscripts of mutual interest, as well as scientific research and publishing.
