Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission, and Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi signed an agreement to establish a European Union diplomatic mission in the Sultanate of Oman.

The new mission, together with Oman’s accredited mission to the European Union in Brussels, will provide a permanent institutional framework to deepen cooperation and advance shared interests, supporting prosperity and sustainable development.

The agreement marks a significant step in the growing partnership between the European Union and Oman.

It aims to expand cooperation across technology, energy, logistics, banking, minerals, infrastructure, training and capacity building, food and water security, energy security and maritime security.

The European Union and Oman also share a strategic vision that supports multilateralism and promotes peace, security and prosperity.

The establishment of the EU mission in Muscat will strengthen coordination and enhance efforts to develop and implement initiatives that contribute to regional and international peace and stability.

Sayyid Badr said he hoped the EU mission in Muscat would deliver tangible benefits for governments, businesses and citizens in both Oman and the EU. He said the mission would unlock the full potential of the partnership and broaden cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Kaja Kallas welcomed the signing of the agreement, describing it as an important milestone in relations between the European Union and Oman. She said the establishment of the mission would further strengthen cooperation and reinforce the partnership.

Discussions held during the signing ceremony reviewed the progress of cooperation and reaffirmed the commitment to maintaining political dialogue and expanding collaboration in ways that promote shared interests and mutual benefit.
