Oman's mobile subscriptions top 8.2 million

Total mobile subscriptions in the Sultanate of Oman rose to 8,246,003 by the end of May 2026, up 1.4% from the same period in 2025, according to the latest data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information

Postpaid mobile subscriptions increased by 5.3% to 1,305,759, while prepaid subscriptions remained broadly stable at 5,242,015.

Mobile subscriptions for Internet of Things services or Machine to Machine (M2M) connections continued to grow, rising 9.2% to 1,698,229 by the end of May 2026.

In the internet sector, active mobile broadband subscriptions reached 5,489,728, while active fixed broadband subscriptions totalled 590,500.

Among fixed broadband technologies, fibre to the home and premises (FTTH) subscriptions increased 6.9% to 362,618, while fixed 5G subscriptions reached 210,337.

Satellite internet recorded the fastest growth among fixed broadband technologies, with subscriptions surging 145.5% to 1,603.

By contrast, fixed 4G subscriptions fell 69% to 6,102, while digital subscriber line (DSL) subscriptions declined 22.8%  to 9,114.

Other fixed internet technologies, including power line communications, Ethernet and leased internet lines, also declined by 6.1% to 726 subscriptions by the end of May 2026 compared with the same period last year.
