The President of the Republic of Botswana, Duma Gideon Boko, has confirmed that his country plans to open an Embassy in Muscat.
In interviews with the Omani media the President said he discussed with His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, ways to strengthen and deepen relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Botswana, particularly in the fields of mining, energy and the production of green energy and fuels.
The President added that his country is making strong efforts to open an embassy in Muscat. These efforts have reached an advanced stage and the embassy is expected to open by the end of this year, he said.
He said that this step will be followed by other initiatives, such as launching a direct flight connecting Muscat with the capital Gaborone, in order to support economic relations between the two countries and enhance cooperation between the two friendly peoples.
He also said that Oman and Botswana are moving forward to conclude further agreements and establish partnerships in various areas, including health, and academic and cultural exchanges.
