Minister reviews cooperation with Armenian counterpart

Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Foreign Minister, held an official session of talks this evening with Ararat Mirzoyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.

The talks reviewed the relations of friendship and cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and Armenia, and discussed ways to nurture these relations.

Oman and Armenia agreed to continue developing their relations through further agreements and memoranda of understanding, to enhance their mutual interests and to open new horizons for bilateral cooperation.

The Ministers also consulted on regional developments, emphasising the importance of prioritising dialogue and diplomacy. They expressed support for efforts aimed at de-escalation and reducing tension to enhance security and stability and to encourage peaceful solutions.

As part of efforts to strengthen consultation and coordination mechanisms between the Oman and Armenia, the Ministers signed a memorandum of understanding between their Foreign Ministries regarding political consultations, consolidating institutional cooperation and dialogue.

The meeting was attended from Oman by: Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs; Sheikh Dr Sulaiman Aljabri, Head of the Legal Department; and Ambassador Munther Almandhari, Head of the Europe Department.

From Armenia, the meeting was attended by: Vahan Kostanyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia; Hrachya Poladian, Armenia’s non resident Ambassador to Oman; and various officials from both countries.
