Oman at extraordinary EU- GCC ministerial meeting

The Sultanate of Oman participated today in an extraordinary ministerial meeting between the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the European Union,

The meeting addressed the ongoing developments and escalation of the war and its serious repercussions for the region. It was attended by Foreign Ministers of the countries of the GCC and the European Union, and the Secretary-General of the GCC.

The meeting, held via video conference, was chaired by the Kingdom of Bahrain and the European Commission. The Omani delegation was headed by Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs.

The meeting’s final statement called for de-escalation, emphasising that the only way to resolve the conflict is through dialogue and diplomacy, not the use of force. The statement also commended the mediation efforts undertaken by the Sultanate of Oman.

Sheikh Ahmed Almaskari, Head of the Department of the Gulf Cooperation Council and Regional Neighbourhood, and officials from the Foreign Ministry also took part in the meeting.
