The Sultanate of Oman has followed with great concern the lists of coordinates and maps submitted by the Republic of Iraq to the United Nations, which infringe upon the sovereignty of the State of Kuwait over its maritime zones, and its established straight baselines and low-tide elevations.
In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry, Oman affirms its solidarity with Kuwait regarding its sovereignty over all its maritime zones and low-tide elevations.
Oman calls upon Iraq to consider its historical and fraternal relations with Kuwait, the principles of good neighbourliness, the rules of international law, and the provisions of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, in line with the bilateral understandings, agreements, and memoranda of understanding concluded between the two brotherly countries.
