His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik received a written message from the President of the Republic of the Philippines, Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr, on relations of friendship and cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of the Philippines and ways to enhance them across fields of mutual interest.

Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi received the message during a meeting with Philippines Foreign Minister Maria Theresa Lazaro who is on an official visit to Oman. The Ministers reviewed bilateral relations and their interest in expanding partnership in economic trade investment and tourism fields.

The meeting also explored ways to develop cooperation in education, vocational and technological training, and digital transformation. They discussed encouraging partnerships between relevant institutions in food security agriculture fisheries energy transport and logistics.

The Ministers also affirmed the importance of continuing regular consultations between the two foreign ministries to follow up on cooperation opportunities and programmes to exchange views on issues of mutual interest and develop diplomatic communication mechanisms.

They also discussed a number of developments in the Middle East and ASEAN (The Association of Southeast Asian Nations) and noted the convergence of their political views on various regional and global issues and the importance of dialogue and coordination in supporting international peace and stability.
