Oman attends Extraordinary Meeting of the GCC Ministerial Council
Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi participated in the 49th Extraordinary Meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Ministerial Council held on June 24, 2025 in Doha, to discuss the Iranian attack on the State of Qatar.
The Council issued a joint statement expressing deep regret and strong condemnation of the Iranian missile strike that targeted a military site in Qatar, describing it as a flagrant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and airspace, a breach of international law and the United Nations Charter, and a contravention of the principles of good neighbourliness.
The Council welcomed the ceasefire between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Israel, praised the efforts made by US President Donald Trump in this regard, and called on him to work toward achieving a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
The Ministerial Council also commended the role of the Sultanate of Oman in the US-Iran nuclear negotiations and valued the efforts of Qatar, the United States, and other countries that contributed to de-escalation. It emphasised the importance of continuing effective mediation efforts.
