President of Botswana discusses investment opportunities
President Duma Boko, of the Republic of Botswana discussed investment opportunities during a visit to the Oman Investment Authority.
The meeting took place as part of the President’s visit to the Sultanate of Oman.
The visiting President listened to presentations by several companies affiliated with the Oman Investment Authority, highlighting investment opportunities across key sectors such as clean energy—including wind, solar, and green hydrogen—alongside mining, logistics, and food industries. These sectors are of strategic importance and offer promising investment opportunities that can benefit from the expertise of both Oman and Botswana.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of drawing on Oman’s experience in establishing and managing a sovereign wealth fund with high standards of governance and sustainable investment, to help enhance Botswana’s capabilities in this vital field.
Botswana is regarded as one of Africa’s most promising economies. It is the world’s leading diamond producer by value, known for its high-quality diamond reserves, and ranks among the top two African nations in terms of creditworthiness.
The visiting President was accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising senior officials from various institutions in Botswana, representing the sectors of investment, energy and minerals, cooperation and development, agriculture, and aviation.
The President said that the visit aims to strengthen the foundations of partnership and cooperation across various fields, particularly in the sectors of energy, mining, infrastructure, investment, and finance.
He added in a statement to the Oman News Agency that the visit follows a series of meetings held between the two countries since last July, noting that both sides have signed a Memorandum of Understanding which is currently being implemented in specific sectors.
