The Embassy is keen to continue working to build the well-established, strategic relations between the two brotherly countries to encourage more cooperation for the benefit of the two peoples.

The Embassy is also working hard to provide practical and consular services to its citizens, as well as citizens and residents of the United Arab Emirates, who wish to visit the Sultanate of Oman for tourism, work and investment.

Bilateral relations

Relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the brotherly United Arab Emirates are well-established and strategic – a model for special relations between brothers.

To further these relations, the Omani-Emirati Higher Committee was established in 1991. During meetings of the Committee matters of common interest are discussed and various areas of cooperation and investment between the two countries are reviewed.

Consular services

The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in the United Arab Emirates provides a range of consular services as follows:

Lost passport

In case of a lost, damaged or stolen passport, please submit the following documents to the Embassy:

  • An official report from the police about the passport
  • A copy of the passport
  • Two recent personal photos in official dress with a white background

Service fees:

  • (Free of charge)

Passport for newborns

The following documents are required:

  • An officially certified birth certificate
  • A copy of the parents' passports
  • A copy of the parents' ID cards
  • A certified marriage contract
  • Two personal photos of the newborn with a white background

The service fees:

  •  50 AED

Renewal of passport

The following documents are required:

  • The expired passport (for handover to the Embassy)
  • Two recent personal photos in official dress with a white background

The renewal fees:

  • 50 AED

Note: Passports renewed through the Embassy are valid for one year only.

Renewal of identity card

The following documents are required:

  • The expired identity card
  • Two recent personal photos with a white background
  • The renewal fee of 60 AED

Note: A personal identity card cannot be issued for the first time (renewals only).

Social security

Those seeking help from social security services should get in direct contact with the departments and offices of the Ministry of Social Development near the United Arab Emirates (Buraimi, Shinas, Musandam) as follows:

  • Residents of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi should contact the Department of Social Development in Al Buraimi Governorate
  • Residents of the Emirate of Dubai should contact the Department of Social Development in the Wilayat of Shinas
  • Residents of the Emirates of Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah and Umm al-Quwain should contact the Department of Social Development in Musandam Governorate

Attestation of documents

Official documents issued from within the Sultanate of Oman must be authenticated by the Omani Foreign Ministry in the Sultanate of Oman. For more information, please click here.

Official documents issued by the United Arab Emirates must be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the United Arab Emirates. For more information, please click here.

Trade and investment

The United Arab Emirates is currently the leading trading partner with the Sultanate of Oman for non-oil imports. Oman is the second most important trading partner for the UAE  among the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

The Embassy is working to further trade cooperation with the UAE through developing investment opportunities and facilitating procedures for investors.

Cultural, educational and scientific exchange

The Embassy works to implement the memoranda of understanding signed between the two countries relating to cultural, educational and scientific cooperation.

It develops exchanges between scientific bodies and higher education institutions in the two countries and coordinates with these bodies.
