His Majesty receives phone call from UN Secretary General

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik received a phone call from António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations.

The call covered current issues and developments in the region.

The Secretary-General expressed deep appreciation for the constructive role played by His Majesty and the Omani Government in supporting and facilitating efforts to achieve peace in the region and in helping to reduce tension and escalation.

He highlighted Oman’s positive efforts, which led to the resumption of safe maritime navigation in the Red Sea and the cessation of armed conflict between the United States and the authorities in Sana'a, in the Republic of Yemen.

The Secretary-General also commended Oman's mediation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States, expressing his strong support for these efforts in the interest of international peace and security.

His Majesty told the Secretary-General that Oman's role in this regard stems from a commitment to the good of all and to peace.

He also appreciated the Secretary-General’s efforts and the United Nations’ mission to promote peace and harmony for all humanity.
