Workshop reviews national report on human rights
The Foreign Ministry held a workshop to discuss the draft of Oman’s Fourth National Report under the Universal Periodic Review mechanism on human rights.
The workshop forms part of preparations to present the report to the United Nations Human Rights Council in November 2025.
The workshop reflects the Sultanate's ongoing efforts to advance its international commitments in the field of human rights.
Oman has previously ratified several international conventions, including the Convention against Torture, the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.
The workshop brought together representatives from relevant government entities, civil society organisations, and human rights experts.
Participants reviewed progress made in implementing previous recommendations and discussed key challenges and opportunities in promoting and protecting human rights in the Sultanate of Oman.
The Sultanate of Oman is scheduled to submit its Fourth National Report under the Universal Periodic Review mechanism in November 2025 and it will be reviewed by the Human Rights Council in Geneva in January.
