
Minister discusses regional developments with Arab League Secretary-General
A telephone call took place between Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi and Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States. The call reviewed overall regional developments amid accelerating challenges and their repercussions for security and stability.
Sayyid Badr underlined the importance Oman attaches to the central role of the Arab League in efforts to contain tensions and advance de-escalation and political solutions. The Minister and the Secretary General agreed on the need to intensify Arab coordination and consultation to safeguard collective Arab security and stability and the higher interests of the region’s peoples.
The call also addressed developments in the Palestinian cause and Arab and international efforts to halt escalation and consolidate the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
The Minister and the Secretary General highlighted the importance of supporting the political track and enabling the Palestinian people to obtain their legitimate rights, foremost amongst them, the right to self-determination, in line with legitimate international resolutions.
