Telecommunications sector records landmark figures

Oman’s telecommunications sector showed continued growth to the end of October 2025, reaching record figures that support digital transformation.

Total mobile service subscriptions reached 8,045,400, marking an increase of 11.3 percent compared with the same period in 2024, according to the latest data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information.

Active postpaid mobile subscriptions rose by 1.9 percent to reach 1,260,429, while prepaid subscriptions grew by 3.0 percent to 5,200,770.

Subscriptions to Internet of Things services (machine to machine) recorded growth of 68 percent, reaching 1,584,201 subscriptions by the end of October 2025.

Internet services also showed notable progress. Total active mobile broadband subscriptions rose to 5,432,686, while total active fixed broadband subscriptions increased by 3.6 percent to reach 595,692.

Fibre to the home or building (FTTH/B) subscriptions grew by 12.4 percent to 351,432. Fixed fifth generation subscriptions rose by 0.5 percent to reach 219,751 by the end of October 2025. In contrast, fixed fourth generation subscriptions declined by 51.3 percent to 12,621.

Digital subscriber line (ADSL) subscriptions fell by 37.9 percent to 10,237, while satellite subscriptions increased by 35.5 percent to reach 904. Other subscriptions, including internet over power lines, Ethernet and leased internet lines, declined by 11.0 percent to 747 subscriptions by the end of October 2025 compared with the same period in the previous year.
