
Oman marks 80th anniversary of founding of the United Nations
The Foreign Ministry commemorated the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations (UN) in a ceremony held in the presence of António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations and Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Foreign Minister.
The event reaffirms the Sultanate of Oman's unwavering commitment to the principles enshrined in the UN Charter and its steadfast support for the UN's vital role in advancing international peace and security, upholding the rules of international law, and fostering multilateral cooperation to tackle common global challenges.

Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs, delivered an address in which he spoke of the esteemed position and central role of the United Nations within the global order.

He underscored the critical importance of collective action and international coordination in resolving political, humanitarian and development issues. He also articulated Oman's consistent foreign policy approach, grounded in dialogue, diplomacy, respect for state sovereignty, and the promotion of mutual understanding among nations.

Her Highness Dr Mona bint Fahd Al Said, Assistant Vice Chairman for International Cooperationof Sultan Qaboos University, attended the ceremony along with: Dr Abdullah bin Ali Al Amri, President of the Environment Authority; Azan bin Qasim Al Busaidi, Undersecretary for Tourism of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism; Sheikh Khalid Almuslahi, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs; Dr Ahmed bin Salem Al Mandhari, Undersecretary for Health Planning and Organisation of the Ministry of Health, and Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Alhinai, Ambassador at large at the Foreign Ministry.

Also present were officials from various institutions, together with the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and the representatives of United Nations offices in Oman.
