Tourism investments in Duqm pass OMR 850 million
Total investment in the tourism sector in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm exceeded OMR 853 million by the end of last year.
The list of tourism investments in Duqm includes 21 hotels, 10 hotel apartment complexes, and a multi-use tourism project featuring hotels, villas, and serviced apartments.
These figures reflect the growing demand for tourism services in the region, the increasing number of tourists and visitors, a dynamic business environment, and the incentives and facilities provided by the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, as well as the management of the Special Economic Zone at Duqm.
Engineer Ahmed Akkaak, CEO of the Special Economic Zone at Duqm, said that tourism interest in the Zone is growing due to its location on the Arabian Sea overlooking the Indian Ocean, its mild year-round climate, and the availability of facilities and services that support tourism growth.
In a statement to the Oman News Agency he added that the management of the Special Economic Zone at Duqm, in cooperation with the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, is organising sports, economic, and tourism events to highlight the region’s investment and tourism potential and to encourage investors to invest in the tourism sector, one of the Zone’s key investment sectors.
He said that the management of the Zone is working to encourage the private sector and entrepreneurs to capitalise on the region’s natural assets by developing various tourism projects.
