Oman secures humanitarian repatriation of crew of “Eternity C” from Yemen

In continuation of the Sultanate of Oman’s sustained humanitarian efforts concerning the crew of the vessel “Eternity C” in Yemen, the safe return of 11 crew members — comprising Filipino and Indian nationals — was successfully facilitated.

The crew was transported from Sana’a to Muscat aboard a Royal Air Force of Oman aircraft in preparation for their repatriation to their respective home countries.

The Sultanate of Oman expresses its sincere appreciation to all concerned parties for their valuable cooperation in ensuring the success of this humanitarian initiative.

Hans Leo Cacdac, Secretary of Migrant Workers of the Philippines, expressed his country’s thanks and appreciation for the tireless efforts of the Government of the Sultanate of Oman, led by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. These efforts culminated in the release of the crew members, paving the way for their return to their country and families.

He also expressed his great pleasure at being in Oman and the hospitality he received.

He said that Oman and the Philippines share excellent relations in various fields, particularly in the labour sector, noting the presence of a large community of Filipino workers in Oman.

Godavarthi Venkata Srinivas, Ambassador of the Republic of India to the Sultanate of Oman, spoke  the deep-rooted historical relations between Oman and India. He noted that this relationship encompasses economic cooperation and maritime neighbourliness, with diplomatic relations spanning 70 years. He added that the two countries work closely together in various fields.

He expressed his country's thanks for Oman's strenuous efforts, which resulted in the release of an Indian national following coordination with various parties.

The released Indian national, Anel Kumar, expressed his immense joy, thanking the Sultanate of Oman for its efforts that led to his release, allowing him to begin procedures for returning home.

Julimo Taberos, one of the released Filipino nationals, also expressed his deep gratitude to the Government of  Oman under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, adding that was looking forward to returning to his country and family.
