
Oman at meeting of Economic Cooperation Organisation Interior Ministers in Tehran
Oman participated as guest of honour in the fourth meeting of the Interior Ministers of the member states of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO), in Tehran, inaugurated by President Masoud Pezeshkian of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Oman's delegation to the meeting was headed by Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Albusaidi, Minister of Interior.
The Minister expressed Oman’s appreciation to Iran for inviting it as guest of honour to the meeting, noting that the invitation reflects the deep and close relations between the two friendly countries and their bonds of mutual respect and constructive cooperation across various fields.

The Minister spoke of the importance of strengthening cooperation among the interior ministers of the organisation, particularly in light of current regional and international challenges. He added that effective coordination across the organisation’s areas of responsibility would help consolidate security and stability and promote sustainable development throughout the region.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance joint security cooperation by addressing current security challenges and promoting collaboration in border security, combating drugs and cybercrime, as well as sharing information and expertise among security agencies, developing joint training programmes and building capacities.
Attending the meeting from Oman were Major General Abdullah bin Ali Alharithy, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Customs for Operations; and Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashil Almaskari, Head of the Foreign Ministry's Department for the GCC and Region.
The meeting of Interior Ministers of the member states of the ECO serves as an important regional platform to promote cooperation and coordination in security fields among member states, discuss shared challenges, and exchange expertise and best practices in managing internal affairs, thereby contributing to security and stability across the region.
