Oman takes part in Indian Ocean Rim Association meeting

The Sultanate of Oman took part via video conference in the 24th Ministerial Meeting and Senior Officials' Meeting of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA).

The Omani delegation was led by Ambassador Dr Afkar Alfarsi, Head of the Ministry's Department of International Trade, Knowledge Economy and Technology.

In his address to the meeting, he reaffirmed Oman's commitment to strengthening regional cooperation frameworks in the Indian Ocean region. Dr Alfarsi pointed to Oman's hosting of the 8th Indian Ocean Conference in February 2025 as evidence of this commitment.

He also spoke of the importance of balancing economic growth with environmental sustainability amid growing global challenges.

The meeting was attended by officials from the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources.
