
Minister discusses regional developments with Egyptian counterpart
Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman, met in Cairo with Dr Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The meeting was held within the framework of regular consultation and continuous coordination between the two nations to discuss ways to elevate relations and to exchange views on regional issues of mutual concern.
The two Ministers reviewed existing cooperation and work programmes across various fields, exploring further opportunities for economic and investment partnerships to enhance mutual benefits and shared interests.

On the political front, the Ministers confirmed a convergence of visions and the integration of their efforts to stabilise security and stability in the region. They emphasised adherence to the rules of international law, the voice of wisdom and justice, and the utilisation of all available peaceful means to achieve reconciliation among all parties, in accordance with the supreme interests, sovereignty, and national security of states.
They reiterated their firm support for the right of the Palestinian people to freedom, self-determination, and the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the June 4, 1967 borders. They stressed the necessity of lifting the blockade on the Gaza Strip and other occupied Palestinian territories in the West Bank and Jerusalem, allowing the immediate entry of all relief and humanitarian aid to facilitate reconstruction and the restoration of a dignified life for residents.

Regarding developments in the Republic of Yemen, both Ministers affirmed their support for the Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue in Riyadh in order to reach a consensual settlement on the issue of southern Yemen. They aim for a comprehensive and sustainable political settlement that preserves the sovereignty, unity, and stability of Yemen, fulfilling the aspirations of its people for security and prosperity.
The Ministers also addressed the latest developments in the Republic of Sudan, emphasising the importance of supporting national institutions, halting fighting and escalation, protecting civilians, and facilitating the flow of humanitarian aid through UN agencies and specialised civil society organisations. They expressed support for efforts to reach a consensual political solution that preserves the rights and legitimate choices of the Sudanese people while ensuring the country's sovereignty and stability.

The ministers expressed great pride in the strength of the historical and fraternal relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Arab Republic of Egypt. They reaffirmed a shared commitment to continue constructive coordination, consultation, and cooperation to serve common interests and enhance regional security, in implementation of the directives of the two countries' leaderships.
