Sultan Qaboos University rises in World University Rankings
Sultan Qaboos University has continued its progress in the QS World University Rankings for 2026 for the second consecutive year, advancing by 28 positions to reach 334th place globally.
This marks a new achievement for the University, reflecting its ongoing efforts to enhance performance and ensure continuous improvement.
A total of 1,503 universities were included in the latest QS ranking, out of 8,467 universities worldwide, with 112 new universities added to the list.
The University recorded clear progress in indicators such as academic reputation, graduate employability, research citations, and international research network.
This underscores Sultan Qaboos University's commitment to graduating highly qualified students and its continued focus on developing the research sector and supporting its researchers.
His Highness Dr Fahd Alsaid, President of Sultan Qaboos University, said: “This achievement reflects reality and is the result of the ongoing efforts and dedication to placing Sultan Qaboos University among the world’s leading institutions across various fields.
“It also represents the leadership we strive for in enhancing the quality of education, and fulfils one of the goals of Oman Vision 2040. The Vision includes a target for at least one Omani university to rank among the top 300 globally by the year 2040.”
Last year, Sultan Qaboos University also made notable progress in the QS World University Rankings by Subject for 2025.
The Petroleum Engineering programme ranked 25th globally, while Nursing reached 32nd place, placing both among the top 50 academic disciplines in the world.
These accomplishments reaffirm Sultan Qaboos University’s commitment to advancing its academic and research mission in higher education, and to strengthening its position as a distinguished global academic institution.
