They also presided over an expanded meeting between the two delegations.
“His Majesty and the Algerian President praised the progress made in bilateral relations in recent years, particularly following the State Visit by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to Muscat from October 28 to 30, 2024, and the convening of the 8th Joint Committee in Algiers on June 11 and 12, 2024. They commended the steps taken to implement the outcomes of the President’s visit and the agreements reached during the Committee’s eighth session.
The two leaders affirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation and partnership, aiming to elevate bilateral relations to new horizons, in line with the potential and capacities of both countries.
In the field of investment, both delegations welcomed joint investment projects by the public and private sectors, building on the successful partnership in fertiliser production—specifically ammonia and urea—in the Arzew industrial zone, with an investment value of USD 2.4 billion.
They also praised ongoing discussions to develop projects in the automotive, energy and pharmaceutical industries, among others. They called for accelerating their implementation and exploring additional areas for cooperation and mutual benefit.
Both delegations welcomed the establishment of the Algerian-Omani Investment Fund as a key tool to finance joint investments, increase their volume, and ensure their diversification and expansion across various sectors.
Regarding trade exchanges, the two leaders issued directives to intensify joint efforts to boost and develop commercial activity, while leveraging the economic and trade potential of both countries. They praised the outcomes of the business forum held in Algiers on June 11, 2024, which was attended by businesspeople and companies from both countries. His Majesty and the Algerian President praised the deep historical and cultural ties between the two peoples and commended the positive role played by the Algerian community in Oman in strengthening bilateral relations.
On regional and international developments of mutual concern, the two leaders exchanged views and affirmed their commitment to coordinate their countries’ positions in line with their foreign policy principles, in a way that serves their national interests, supports the Arab and Islamic worlds, and contributes to regional and global stability.
Concerning developments in the Arab world, the two leaders stressed the importance of continued coordination with Arab partners, both bilaterally and within the framework of the Arab League, to enhance joint Arab action and address the various threats and challenges to regional security and stability.
They also discussed the tragic situation in Palestine, condemning the genocide and scorched earth policy carried out by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people in Gaza. They noted the unprecedented suffering and the large-scale destruction of essential infrastructure, including hospitals, schools and places of worship. The two leaders urged the international community—especially the UN Security Council—to assume its responsibilities and bring about an immediate end to the war on Gaza. They reiterated the need for a just and comprehensive resolution of the Palestinian issue based on relevant international legitimacy resolutions and the two-state solution, ensuring the Palestinian people's right to establish an independent state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Omani delegation praised Algeria’s vigorous efforts in defending the Palestinian cause at the Security Council as the Arab Group’s representative.
In turn, the Algerian delegation commended Oman's constructive role in mediating between the United States and Iran, and praised the approach of Omani diplomacy, which is based on resolving conflicts through peaceful means, dialogue, and wise mediation in both regional and international disputes.
