African Union Commission Chair receives Political Undersecretary

Mahmoud Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, received Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs.

The meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, addressed the historical ties that link Africa and the Sultanate of Oman. It affirmed the importance of strengthening areas of cooperation at the level of bilateral relations between Oman and the African Union (AU) , as well as within the framework of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

The AU Commission Chair commended the role played by Oman and its balanced positions on regional issues. The meeting also saw an exchange of views on regional developments in the Arab region and the Horn of Africa. It affirmed the importance of preserving the unity and sovereignty of states, as well as the shared commitment of the AU and Oman to supporting peace and stability and the promotion of dialogue.
