Abdusalam Khatamov, 53, is a career diplomat who has served in various capacities within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan. He began his career in 1993 in the state structures of the Bukhara region and later taught Arabic language at Bukhara State University.

In 1999, Khatamov joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he held various positions in the Bukhara Department of the MFA, the Consular Department, the Consular Legal Department, and the Embassies in Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

From 2018 to 2024, Khatamov headed the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Ekaterinburg, Russia, contributing significantly to the strengthening of Uzbekistan-Russia relations.

Khatamov is a graduate of the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies, one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher education in Asia, specialising in Oriental studies.
