Minister meets UN Secretary General in New York
Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi met Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations, at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
During the meeting, the UN Secretary General conveyed to the Minister his greetings and best wishes to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. The Foreign Minister passed on His Majesty’s greetings and best wishes to the Secretary General for success in his international and humanitarian endeavours.
The UN Secretary General and the Minister reviewed the existing cooperation between Oman and the United Nations and highlighted the importance of continuing joint efforts in support of peace and sustainable development.
They also exchanged views on key international challenges, foremost among them the humanitarian situation in Gaza. They stressed the need for an immediate ceasefire, intensified efforts to deliver relief aid, alleviation of civilian suffering, and advancing fair political solutions.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Alhinai, Ambassador at large of the Foreign Ministry; Ambassador Omar Said Omar Alkathiri, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations in New York; Ambassador Sheikh Hamid Almaani, Director of the Diplomatic Academy, and a number of officials from both delegations.
