Minister receives leading members of The Elders in New York
Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi received Juan Manuel Santos, Chair of The Elders and former President of Colombia, along with senior members of the organisation, including Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland, and Prince Zeid Raad Al Hussein, former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
The meeting took place at the headquarters of Oman's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York.
The meeting discussed the situation in Palestine and the Gaza Strip, underscoring the importance of intensifying international efforts to end the suffering of civilians and to promote prospects for a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
Sayyid Badr reaffirmed Oman's firm position in supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, and the need for international and regional efforts to confront the severe humanitarian crisis they are facing.
The members of The Elders praised Oman's positive role in supporting regional issues and in promoting dialogue and diplomacy for peace.
