Minister meets UNRWA Commissioner General

Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi met in New York with Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), on the margins of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The meeting addressed the worsening humanitarian challenges facing Palestinian refugees and underlined the importance of intensifying international efforts to ensure the delivery of urgent humanitarian aid to Gaza without obstruction, in line with United Nations resolutions and international humanitarian law.

Foreign Minister reaffirmed the Sultanate’s continued support for UNRWA’s work, praising its pivotal role in meeting current challenges and in providing essential services and relief to Palestinian refugees in the occupied territories and host Arab countries.

The Commissioner General expressed his appreciation for Oman’s efforts and its consistent stance in supporting humanitarian causes, stressing the importance of continued cooperation to enable the Agency to meet its responsibilities and commitments.
