Oman and Mongolia explore investment cooperation opportunities
Abdulsalam Almurshidi, President of the Oman Investment Authority (OIA), paid an official visit to the Republic of Mongolia, accompanied by Sheikh Abdulaziz Alhinai, Foreign Ministry Ambassador at large. The visit comes as part of Oman’s efforts to diversify its investment partnerships and strengthen its presence in promising markets.
The Omani delegation met with Mongolian Prime Minister Gombojav Zandanshatar.
Mr Almurshidi underlined the importance of enhancing cooperation in investment and other areas of mutual interest. For his part, the Prime Minister welcomed closer cooperation with the Sultanate of Oman, expressing his country's interest in building a practical partnership based on mutual benefit and facilitating investment in priority sectors.
The Omani delegation also held a series of official meetings with senior Mongolian government officials, including Damdinyam Gongor, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources; Batkhuu Edish, Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy and Development; Janbold Bata, Adviser and Head of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister; V. Enkhbatar, Director General of the Investment and Trade Agency; and T. Munkhtur, Advisor to the Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry.
The meetings focused on exploring opportunities for cooperation in the sectors of mining, energy, agriculture and food industries. Discussions also addressed ways to develop joint projects, boost trade and create an attractive environment for long-term investments.
There was interest in intensifying technical dialogue in the coming period, with a view to establishing executive frameworks for cooperation.
This visit reflected the shared desire of the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Mongolia to build a diverse and sustainable strategic partnership. Relations between the two countries hold significant potential for cooperation across various fields that serve mutual economic and development interests.
