Italian Prime Minister arrives in Oman

Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister of the Italian Republic arrived in Muscat today on an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.

His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs led the welcoming party for the guest and her accompanying delegation upon their arrival at Muscat International Airport.

Sayyid Shihab extended a formal welcome to the distinguished guest and her accompanying delegation, wishing them a successful visit.

The Italian Prime Minister was accorded an official reception with His Highness escorting the guest to the dais of honour, for the playing of the Italian national anthem.

The guest then shook hands with the Omani welcoming party. Those present to receive her included: Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Foreign Minister (Head of the Mission of Honour); Hussain bin Ali bin Abdullatif, Adviser at the Private Office, and His Highness Sayyid Nazar Al Julanda Majid Alsaid, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Italian Republic.  Senior officers of  the Sultan’s Armed Forces and members of the mission of honour were also present.

His Highness the Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs in turn shook hands with the official Italian delegation accompanying the Prime Minister.

Following the welcoming ceremony, Sayyid Shihab accompanied the Italian Prime Minister through a ceremonial guard of honour, formed by the Royal Oman Police,  to the main lounge for a brief reception.

The Italian Prime Minister is accompanied by an official delegation comprising Pierluigi D'Elia, Italy's Ambassador to Oman; Fabrizio Saggio, Diplomatic Adviser to the Italian Prime Minister; General Franco Federici, Military Adviser to the Italian Prime Minister and various officials of the Italian government.
