Jordan: Oman guest of honour at Amman International Book Fair

The Sultanate of Oman was the guest of honour at the 24th Amman International Book Fair, in the Jordanian capital. The Sultanate's delegation was headed by Dr Abdullah  Al Harrasi, Minister of Information.

The Minister of Information expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, represented by the Ministry of Culture, for hosting Oman as the guest of honour. He said this initiative reflects appreciation for Omani culture and its diversity in thought, literature, knowledge, and creativity.

Dr Al Harrasi said that Oman and Jordan share a common interest in the role that culture and knowledge play in strengthening national and ethnic identity, especially in light of the challenges facing these in the current era due to modern technological developments and their impact on the cultural fabric of humanity.

Ambassador Sheikh Fahad Abdul Rahman Alojaili, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, said in a speech: “The participation of the Sultanate of Oman embodies the depth of the historical ties between our two brotherly countries, and the strong relations that the wise leaderships of the two countries seek to consolidate, based on the foundations of love, respect, harmony and mutual cooperation at all levels, to enhance creative cultural exchange, and to affirm the role of culture in strengthening the bonds of brotherhood between our two peoples.”
