Oman marks 40 years of diplomatic relations with Russia in Muscat celebration
The Foreign Ministry, in cooperation with the Russian Embassy in Muscat, organised a celebration to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Russian Federation.
In his speech Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs, underlined the strength of the relations between the two countries since the signing of the document establishing them in 1985.
He noted that the Omani signatory of the document was His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, who at that time served as Political Undersecretary at the Foreign Ministry.
He also highlighted His Majesty’s state visit to Russia last April, which resulted in agreements and memoranda of understanding that laid the foundation for a growing partnership built on common interests and mutual trust.
Oleg Vladimirovich Levin, Ambassador of the Russian Federation Oman, said that His Majesty’s visit to Moscow and his talks with President Vladimir Putin marked a significant milestone in the course of cooperation. He underlined the keenness to further develop this cooperation across various fields to serve common interests and to promote security and stability.
The celebration reaffirmed commitment to continue strengthening cooperation in a way that serves the interests of the two friendly peoples and contributes to supporting security and stability in the region and the world.
