More than 70 tourism and travel companies attended the opening of Oman\u2019s pavilion at ITB Berlin 2024<\/a>, the world’s leading travel trade show.<\/p>\n

The pavilion showcased Oman\u2019s many attractions and landmarks as well as the tourism services offered to visitors.<\/p>\n

The event also allowed Oman to explore investment opportunities in the tourism sector. Exhibitors were allocated galleries in the pavilion for adventure tourism and Omani culinary arts along with products made by small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The pavilion was officially opened by Kai Wegner, Mayor of Berlin<\/a>, and Salim bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism<\/a>, along with Azzan Qassim Al Busaidi, Tourism Undersecretary, and a number of German officials and tourism companies representatives.<\/p>\n

The Minister said Oman\u2019s participation in ITB 2024 was expected to lead to a 15-20 per cent increase in the number of German tourists by highlighting the various programmes offered by the Ministry in partnership with the tourism sector.<\/p>\n

The Minister said a record four million tourists visited Oman last year leading to a positive economic impact that enabled the continuation of the various Ministry initiatives including participation in the global exhibition.<\/p>\n

Oman’s Ambassador to Germany, Maithaa Saif Majid Al Mahrouqi<\/a>, said: “The Sultanate of Oman\u2019s participation in this global exhibition contributes to increasing the number tourists by highlighting its attractive features for visitors from European countries, especially the Republic of Germany.”<\/p>\n

The Ambassador said Oman was considered one of the advanced countries in terms of the diversity of different tourism experiences and ITB Berlin was an opportunity to showcase its attractions to participants from more than 160 countries.<\/p>\n

The CEO of Oman Airports<\/a>, Sheikh Aiman Ahmed Al Hosni, said he was seeking to attract more international airlines to Muscat through meetings with companies at the Berlin exhibition.<\/p>\n

He said many tourists were visiting Oman through the Gulf Cooperation Council countries which offered a promising market to European and Asian flight operators.<\/p>\n
