These efforts support the sector’s growth, competitiveness and local content development in line with Oman Vision 2040.

The three areas on offer provide qualified local and international companies opportunities to undertake exploration programmes, geological surveys and mineral resource assessments, paving the way for future mining projects based on the findings of technical and economic studies. Details of investment opportunities and application requirements are available through the Ministry’s Taqa platform.

Mohsin bin Hamad Al Hadhrami, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, said Oman’s participation in the international event reflects its commitment to increasing the contribution of the minerals sector to economic diversification.

He explained that mineral wealth alone does not generate prosperity. Its economic benefits are realised when resources are combined with investment, knowledge and modern technologies to create productive projects, competitive industries and sustainable opportunities. This approach contributes to achieving the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 and strengthening local content.

Oman has diverse geological formations and extensive mineral resources, some dating back approximately 900 million years. Among its most significant geological features is the Semail Ophiolite, considered one of the world’s most important geological exposures of oceanic crust and upper mantle rocks.

Oman’s mineral resources and geological indications include copper, chromium, gold, nickel, manganese, zinc, lead, gypsum, limestone, dolomite, marble, silica, silica sand, gabbro, basalt, quartzite, clay and salts. Some of these resources are already commercially exploited, while others remain under exploration and assessment, offering opportunities to develop mining projects and associated industries.

Details of investment opportunities and application requirements are available through the Ministry’s Taqa platform.

Over the past five years, Oman’s minerals sector has made progress in developing its investment and regulatory framework. A total of 28 mining concession areas have been awarded for the exploration and development of various mineral resources. This has been accompanied by improvements to regulatory frameworks, the adoption of an occupational health and safety guide, and the establishment of the Oman Minerals Trading Company to regulate the trading and marketing of mineral commodities.

Development efforts have also included expanding digital services through the Taqa platform, allowing investors to submit and track applications and explore investment opportunities. These measures enhance transparency and the efficiency of concession management.

In terms of economic performance, the sector’s revenue increased by 39% in 2025 compared with 2024, alongside the expansion of mining activities, the commencement of operations at copper production projects and progress towards development and production at several concession areas.

[116
210,303,810,1029
post-62499","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-trade-news","tag-australia-en","tag-oman-2040-en","tag-economic-diplomacy-en","tag-mining-and-minerals-en
["GET
