The Sultanate of Oman participated in a high-level meeting of the United Nations General Assembly on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response.<\/p>\n

The meeting was held in New York under the theme \u201cAdvancing a Multilateral and Intergenerational Approach to Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response, Guided by Equity and Solidarity\u201d.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Dr Adnan bin Hamad Alazri, Oman’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations for Maritime Affairs,<\/a> delivered Oman\u2019s statement, noting that pandemic prevention, preparedness and response are a shared responsibility requiring sustained political commitment and effective international cooperation.<\/p>\n

Oman’s statement highlighted the importance of strengthening implementation of the International Health Regulations, developing national capacities in surveillance, early response, laboratory services and health emergency management.<\/p>\n

It also spoke of the need to ensure sustained investment in health systems, human resources, scientific research and innovation.<\/p>\n

Oman highlighted the importance of regional and international cooperation, the exchange of information and expertise, and stronger early-warning networks.<\/p>\n

Oman reaffirmed its readiness to continue working with the World Health Organization and international partners to build a more equitable, flexible and resilient global health system.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
