The Sultanate of Oman, represented by its Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York<\/a>, participated in a seminar on the challenges posed by non-state armed groups.<\/p>\n

The seminar was organised by the Secretariat General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)<\/a> in New York on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.<\/a><\/p>\n

The seminar was attended by officials and representatives of GCC member states and the United Nations.<\/a><\/p>\n

The seminar discussed the challenges posed by non-state armed groups and their implications for the sovereignty, security and stability of states.<\/p>\n

It also explored ways to strengthen state institutions, uphold the rule of law and develop mechanisms for regional and international cooperation and coordination to address these challenges and mitigate their consequences.<\/p>\n

Discussions also addressed the importance of coordinating international efforts and strengthening multilateral action to tackle the causes of instability and support solutions that safeguard state sovereignty and promote regional security and stability.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
