Oman has renewed its firm commitment to continuing its partnership and cooperation with the United Nations and its Office of Youth Affairs, in order to empower young people, strengthen their pivotal role in decision-making processes and lay the foundations for global peace.<\/p>\n

This commitment was reaffirmed in a statement delivered by the the Sultanate of Oman\u2019s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Omar bin Said Alkathiri<\/a>, before the United Nations General Assembly, during the formal debate on the Secretary General\u2019s report on the United Nations Youth Office.<\/p>\n

Oman welcomed the findings and progress outlined in the report on the implementation of the United Nations Youth Strategy 2030 and the translation of the international commitments set out in the “Pact for the Future”<\/a> into practical and tangible steps that support meaningful youth engagement, with a focus on the youth, peace and security agenda.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Alkathiri affirmed that, as part of the objectives of Oman Vision 2040<\/a>, Oman has placed great importance on creating an integrated national environment that supports young people\u2019s aspirations, incorporating their views into all development pathways and recognising them as active and genuine contributors to shaping the future.<\/p>\n

He highlighted the support provided to hundreds of youth initiatives in entrepreneurship, innovation and social responsibility through national programmes and business incubators. He also highlighted prominent initiatives such as the Youth Excellence Award, the Oman Debates programme and the Youth Ambassadors Project, as well as youth centres across the governorates.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
