The launch of the 10th programme for the fundamental principles guiding State Public Policy took place at the Foreign Ministry under the theme \u201cEconomic Diplomacy\u201d. The programme will continue until June 25, 2026, with officials and specialists from various government bodies participating.<\/p>\n

Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs<\/a>, presided over the opening the programme, which has been organised by the Ministry of Labour in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry, represented by the Diplomatic Academy<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The programme forms part of national efforts to raise awareness of the state\u2019s strategic directions, to deepen understanding of national priorities and to enable national talent to contribute effectively to achieving the objectives of Oman Vision 2040<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The theme of \u201cEconomic Diplomacy\u201d reflects the growing importance of economic dimensions in international relations and the central role of economic diplomacy in supporting sustainable development and enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy. It does so by attracting investment, building local and international partnerships, opening new prospects for economic and commercial cooperation and transferring and applying modern knowledge and technologies to support economic growth and diversification.<\/p>\n

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Sheikh Humaid Almaani, Head of the Diplomatic Academy at the Foreign Ministry, said the programme represents an important national framework for understanding the foundations of the State\u2019s public policies. It also embodies the strategic vision guiding the political, economic, social and development sectors.<\/p>\n

Sheikh Humaid explained that the programme aims to reinforce a set of principles and foundations underpinning the decision making process. Foremost among these is achieving a balance between economic development and social stability, in addition to promoting justice and equality and upholding the rule of law. These principles contribute to building a prosperous and stable society capable of keeping pace with regional and international changes.<\/p>\n

The Head of the Diplomatic Academy explained that these foundations arise from a comprehensive vision that places people at the heart of the development process. The vision seeks to strengthen national unity and consolidate the values of tolerance, coexistence and cultural diversity, while preserving national identity and reinforcing a sense of belonging and shared responsibility towards the nation and its achievements.<\/p>\n

He added that the programme\u2019s importance is not limited to domestic matters. It also extends to the external dimension by strengthening cooperation with regional and international partners and developing bilateral and multilateral relations in a way that supports national interests and enhances Oman\u2019s international standing.<\/p>\n

He emphasised that the fundamental principles of the state\u2019s public policy are based on a set of core values. These include: strengthening the rule of law and the application of justice, achieving sustainable development across its economic, social and environmental dimensions; consolidating national unity and the values of tolerance and coexistence, and expanding regional and international cooperation in support of development goals and Oman\u2019s presence in international forums.<\/p>\n

He said achieving these objectives requires the combined efforts of all state institutions, a spirit of partnership and shared responsibility and a commitment to the highest standards of efficiency and transparency. He noted that the success of public policies depends on the ability to anticipate change and respond to it with flexibility and efficiency, in line with society\u2019s aspirations and future challenges.<\/p>\n

Dr Mohammed Al Najjar, Director General of Training at the Ministry of Labour, said economic diplomacy has become one of the principal foundations for enhancing the competitiveness of countries and achieving sustainable development. It is no longer merely a supporting tool of foreign policy, but has developed into a strategic path that contributes to economic growth, income diversification and stronger international partnerships.<\/p>\n

He explained that economic diplomacy serves as a bridge between politics and economics. It helps harness international relations to serve development objectives, open new markets and opportunities and enhance the attractiveness of the investment environment. This has a positive impact on the national economy and strengthens its ability to address global challenges and changes.<\/p>\n

He added that building local and international partnerships is not limited to attracting capital and investment. It also includes transferring expertise, knowledge and modern technologies, developing national capabilities, and improving the efficiency of different economic sectors. This supports sustainable development and strengthens the competitiveness of the national economy.<\/p>\n

He said the rapid economic transformations taking place around the world make greater coordination between government and private sector bodies increasingly important. The programme aims to enable participants to understand government directions and national priorities for the coming period. It also seeks to strengthen their ability to translate public policies into practical initiatives, programmes and projects that achieve a tangible impact across different sectors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
