The Foreign Ministry, represented by the Diplomatic Academy<\/a>, and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research, UNITAR<\/a>, signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the headquarters of the Permanent Mission of the Sultanate of Oman in Geneva<\/a> to strengthen partnership in diplomatic capacity building.<\/p>\n

The Memorandum was signed on behalf of Oman by Ambassador Idris Abdulrahman Al Khanjari, Oman’s Permanent Representative \u00a0to the United Nations and other international organisations in Geneva, and on behalf of the Institute by Michelle Gyles-McDonnough, United Nations Assistant Secretary General and Executive Director of the UNITAR<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This cooperation forms part of a transition from general cooperation to the implementation of practical, high impact training programmes to develop national competencies in diplomatic and multilateral work.<\/p>\n

It reflects a shared commitment to establishing a sustainable, long term partnership that contributes to strengthening multilateral action and supporting international efforts to address global challenges.<\/p>\n

UNITAR is a specialised body within the United Nations system. It was established in Geneva in 1965 and plays a pivotal role in developing institutional and human capacities at the international level.<\/p>\n

The Institute provides advanced training and research programmes for policymakers, government officials and professionals, particularly in developing countries.<\/p>\n

It also focuses on strategic areas including multilateral diplomacy, sustainable development, peace and security and environmental governance, drawing on modern learning methodologies and wide ranging international partnerships.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
