The Sultanate of Oman has said it is important to strengthen multilateral action to support the role of \u00a0the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO)<\/a> in protecting education and safeguarding human heritage.<\/p>\n

In her address at the opening of the 224th session of the plenary sessions of UNESCO’s Executive Board’, Ambassador Amina Albalushi, Permanent Delegate of the Sultanate of Oman to UNESCO, said that the Arab region faces escalating challenges. These are due to conflicts and attacks on infrastructure, educational institutions, and cultural assets, particularly in Palestine and Lebanon, resulting in disruptions to the educational process.<\/p>\n

She emphasised the need for a more coordinated and effective international response to ensure the continuity of education in times of crisis.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Albalushi reaffirmed Oman’s steadfast position calling for the primacy of peaceful solutions, de-escalation, and a return to dialogue and diplomacy, in order to consolidate security and stability and ensure respect for international law.<\/p>\n

She further noted that education represents a supreme national priority in Oman and a fundamental pillar for achieving Oman Vision 2040. <\/a>She highlighted Oman’s contribution to international efforts concerning the future of education and its active participation in related leadership frameworks within UNESCO.<\/p>\n

Oman’s UNESCO representative emphasised the pivotal role played by the organisation in protecting cultural heritage and safeguarding cultural diversity, particularly in conflict zones. She welcomed the “UNESCO 80” initiative aimed at enhancing the UNESCO efficiency and governance.<\/p>\n

The Ambassador renewed Oman’s commitment to supporting UNESCO’s mission and Oman’s firm belief that building peace in the minds of people, advancing knowledge, and preserving culture form the foundation for a safer and more sustainable world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
