{"id":31313,"date":"2025-11-11T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-11-11T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fm.gov.om\/31313\/"},"modified":"2026-01-23T12:10:56","modified_gmt":"2026-01-23T12:10:56","slug":"agreement-signed-for-dhofar-wind-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fm.gov.om\/en\/31313\/","title":{"rendered":"Agreement signed for Dhofar Wind Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/omanpwp.om\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nama Power and Water Procurement<\/a>\u00a0has signed an agreement with a consortium of companies, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sembcorp.com\/om\/sembcorp-in-oman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sembcorp<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/oq.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OQ<\/a> Alternative Energy to develop Phase Two of the <a href=\"https:\/\/masdar.ae\/en\/renewables\/our-projects\/dhofar-wind-project\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dhofar Wind Project<\/a> in the Sultanate of Oman. The development includes design, construction, ownership, operation and maintenance of the wind farm.<\/p>\n<p>The signing ceremony was held under the auspices of Engineer Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, <a href=\"https:\/\/mem.gov.om\/public\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minister of Energy and Minerals<\/a>, in the presence of Ahmed Salim Al Abri, Chief Executive Officer at Nama Power and Water Procurement company, Vipul Tuli, Managing Director and CEO of Sembcorp Renewable Energy West, and Ghalib Al Maamari, Acting CEO of OQ Alternative Energy company.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-98507 size-fusion-800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fm.gov.om\/wp-content\/uploads\/\u062a\u0648\u0642\u064a\u0639-\u0627\u062a\u0641\u0627\u0642\u064a\u0629-\u0644\u062a\u0637\u0648\u064a\u0631-\u0645\u0634\u0631\u0648\u0639-\u0645\u062d\u0637\u0629-\u0638\u0641\u0627\u0631-\u0644\u0637\u0627\u0642\u0629-\u0627\u0644\u0631\u064a\u0627\u062d-\u0627\u0644\u0645\u0631\u062d\u0644\u0629-\u0627\u0644\u062b\u0627\u0646\u064a\u06291-800x453.jpeg\" alt=\"Agreement signed for development of Dhofar II Wind Project\" width=\"800\" height=\"453\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Energy said that Phase Two of the Dhofar Wind Project \u00a0represents a step forward in Oman\u2019s march towards renewable energy. \u201cThe project embodies our firm commitment to achieve the goals of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oman2040.om\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oman Vision 2040<\/a> and move confidently towards the realisation of zero neutrality by 2050\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister pointed out that the volume of the investments in this project, which amounts to about RO 43 million, reflects the confidence of partners and investors in the national investment climate and affirms the growing status of the renewable energy sector in the Sultanate of Oman.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the project will contribute to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 158,000 tons annually, in addition to supplying more than 18,000 homes with clean electricity.<\/p>\n<p>The project embodies the ambitious vision of the Sultanate of Oman to establish a modern and balanced energy system that combines efficiency and sustainability. \u201cThe project is based on our natural resources and national capabilities.
