Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi<\/a> took part in a joint ministerial meeting between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)<\/a> and the French Republic, held on the margins of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In his remarks, Sayyid Badr reaffirmed the deep and longstanding friendship between Oman and France. He said it rests on trust, pragmatism and mutual respect. He noted clear growth in recent years in the economy, trade and cultural exchanges and called for building on this momentum to strengthen joint GCC\u2013French cooperation to serve mutual interests.<\/p>\n

The Minister addressed the Palestinian cause as an urgent priority. He welcomed the role of France and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in their joint chairing of the summit on the two-state solution. He said restoring confidence in the peace process requires concrete steps that end the cycle of violence, protect civilians and offer a credible political horizon that guarantees the Palestinian people\u2019s right to self-determination and to establish their independent state.<\/p>\n

Sayyid Badr conveyed Oman\u2019s appreciation for France\u2019s recognition of the Palestinians\u2019 right to establish their independent state. He urged the international community to confront the grave violations committed by the Israeli government against Palestinians and said a just and lasting peace depends on constructive dialogue that addresses legitimate concerns and builds mutual trust.<\/p>\n

He said that Oman and the GCC have long worked to keep channels of communication open, reduce tensions and avoid confrontation, whether on nuclear non-proliferation, maritime security or regional conflicts.<\/p>\n

He concluded that the GCC\u2013French partnership matters most when it translates into practical steps and tangible results. The Minister noted that the most pressing challenge today is the injustice and suffering facing the Palestinian people and the serious implications for the region\u2019s security and stability.<\/p>\n
