{"id":25989,"date":"2025-06-24T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-06-24T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fm.gov.om\/25989\/"},"modified":"2025-12-31T12:18:39","modified_gmt":"2025-12-31T12:18:39","slug":"oman-attends-extraordinary-meeting-of-the-gcc-ministerial-council","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fm.gov.om\/en\/25989\/","title":{"rendered":"Oman attends Extraordinary Meeting of the GCC Ministerial Council"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fm.gov.om\/ministry\/about-us\/key-figures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi<\/a> participated in the 49th Extraordinary Meeting of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fm.gov.om\/policy\/multilateral-relations\/#GCC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)<\/a> Ministerial Council held on June 24, 2025 in Doha, to discuss the Iranian attack on the State of Qatar.<\/p>\n<p>The Council issued a joint statement expressing deep regret and strong condemnation of the Iranian missile strike that targeted a military site in Qatar, describing it as a flagrant violation of Qatar\u2019s sovereignty and airspace, a breach of international law and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/about-us\/un-charter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">United Nations Charter<\/a>, and a contravention of the principles of good neighbourliness.<\/p>\n<p>The Council welcomed the ceasefire between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Israel, praised the efforts made by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/administration\/donald-j-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">US President Donald Trump<\/a> in this regard, and called on him to work toward achieving a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministerial Council also commended the role of the Sultanate of Oman in the US-Iran nuclear negotiations and valued the efforts of Qatar, the United States, and other countries that contributed to de-escalation.
