{"id":21981,"date":"2025-02-07T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-02-07T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fm.gov.om\/21981\/"},"modified":"2025-12-31T12:16:36","modified_gmt":"2025-12-31T12:16:36","slug":"oman-at-unicef-executive-board-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fm.gov.om\/en\/21981\/","title":{"rendered":"Oman at UNICEF Executive Board meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Sultanate of Oman participated in the first regular session of 2025 of the Executive Board of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unicef.org\/executiveboard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">United Nations Children&#8217;s Fund (UNICEF)<\/a> at the organisation&#8217;s headquarters in New York.<\/p>\n<p>The session discussed key topics, including performance reports on UNICEF programmes, an assessment of the impact of projects aimed at supporting children worldwide, and a review of future action plans to strengthen child rights protection amid current global challenges.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fm.gov.om\/new-york\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Omar Said Omar Alkathiri, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations in New York<\/a>, praised UNICEF\u2019s efforts in a statement delivered during the opening session. He highlighted Oman\u2019s ongoing commitment to develop legislation and policies that support children&#8217;s rights in line with <a href=\"https:\/\/oman2040.om\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oman Vision 2040<\/a>, in cooperation with international organisations, to ensure a better future for children.<\/p>\n<p><img data-opt-id=1897975149  fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-71713\" src=\"https:\/\/mlzlkxvcvliz.i.optimole.com\/cb:ghTT.1f99\/w:auto\/h:auto\/q:mauto\/g:sm\/f:best\/https:\/\/www.fm.gov.om\/wp-content\/uploads\/67a59cf389f46-800x534-1.jpeg\" alt=\"Oman at UNICEF Executive Board meeting\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Oman also delivered a joint statement on UNICEF\u2019s humanitarian work, presented by First Secretary Maysaa Al Shabli, a member of the Permanent Mission.<\/p>\n<p>The statement reaffirmed Oman\u2019s position on the need to intensify international humanitarian efforts to provide urgent assistance, ensuring Palestinian children enjoy their legitimate rights.<\/p>\n<p>During the Executive Board\u2019s review of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unicef.org\/executiveboard\/documents\/update-unicef-disability-inclusion-policy-and-strategy-2022-2030-frs-2025\">UNICEF\u2019s disability inclusion policy and strategy (2022-2030)<\/a>, Shunona Alhabsi, Oman\u2019s representative to the Board, emphasised the importance of supporting and empowering children with disabilities and integrating them into society. She highlighted Oman\u2019s initiatives to foster an inclusive and equitable environment that enhances their participation.<\/p>\n<p>The strategic partnership between the Omani government and UNICEF serves as a unique model for advancing the agenda of child rights and welfare. It aligns with national legislation on childcare and the priorities of Oman Vision 2040 to enhance children\u2019s development and wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p>This also reflects Oman\u2019s commitment to international treaties and agreements supporting children\u2019s rights in health, education, protection, and inclusion.<\/p>\n<p>This is an unofficial English version of an Arabic report.
