His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik<\/a> and President Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o of the Republic of Angola<\/a> presided over the signing of an agreement and two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) at Al Alam Palace, as part of the President\u2019s official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.<\/p>\n

The Agreement provides for acquiring a stake in Angola\u2019s Catoca<\/a> and Luele<\/a> diamond mining operations. The first MoU deals with cooperation in the fields of energy between the two countries, while the second relates to exploring opportunities for cooperation in strategic financial initiatives.<\/p>\n

The Agreement and the MoUs were signed on behalf of the Sultanate of Oman\u2019s Government by Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, President of the Oman Investment Authority. Diamantino Pedro Azevedo, Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas<\/a> and Vera Esperan\u00e7a dos Santos Daves de Sousa, Minister of Finance<\/a>, signed on behalf of the Angolan Government.<\/p>\n

The event was attended by members of the Royal Family, Ministers, Military Commanders and members of the delegation accompanying the President.<\/p>\n
