Earlier this year, the Central Bank of Oman<\/a> announced the withdrawal as legal tender in the Sultanate of \u00a0Oman of certain banknotes issued before 2020\u00a0 (pre-sixth issue).<\/p>\n

The following banknotes will cease to be valid 360 days from the date of publication of the announcement in the Official Gazette:<\/p>\n

– The 1 Omani Rial, 1\/2 Omani Rial, 200 Baisa, and 100 Baisa denominations issued by the Central Bank in November 1995.<\/p>\n

– The 50 Omani Rials, 20 Omani Rials, 10 Omani Rials, and 5 Omani Rials denominations issued by the Central Bank in November 2000.<\/p>\n

– The 1 Omani Rial commemorative issue of 2005.<\/p>\n

\"1<\/p>\n

– The 20 Omani Rials commemorative issue of 2010.<\/p>\n

– The 50 Omani Rials, 10 Omani Rials, and 5 Omani Rials denominations issued by the Central Bank in 2011 and 2012.<\/p>\n

– The 1 Omani Rial commemorative issue of 2015.<\/p>\n

– The 50 Omani Rials issue of 2019.<\/p>\n

The Central Bank<\/a> urges all holders of these banknotes to exchange them at licensed banks within the specified 360-day period, that is by December 31st 2024, as these currencies will no longer be valid for trading after this period.<\/p>\n
