Oman has contributed to the current United Nations’ human rights reviews of Senegal, Saudi Arabia and China in Geneva, Switzerland.<\/p>\n

The Universal Periodic Review (UPR)<\/a> is a mechanism of the UN Human Rights Council that requires each member state to undergo a peer review of its human rights records every 4.5 years.<\/p>\n

On the Republic of Senegal, Sarah Abdullah Al Balushi, First Secretary of the Omani Permanent Mission at the UN<\/a>, welcomed a draft law establishing the Senegalese Human Rights Commission.\"Permanent<\/p>\n

On Saudi Arabia, Deputy Permanent Representative Talal Al-Siyabi welcomed measures to protect children and the elderly and to combat human trafficking.<\/p>\n

On China, Counsellor Talal praised the People’s Republic’s national human rights plan, the child development programme and the law for the protection of minors.<\/p>\n
