The Foreign Ministry is developing an official smartphone app.<\/div>

The app aims to be an essential travelling companion for Omanis travelling abroad or for visitors to Oman. It is designed to help users travel safely wherever they are. If they have a problem, it shows them how to get help.<\/p>\n

The app is currently available in Beta\/testing version. (Please see below on how to download the app and give your feedback)<\/p>\n

The app finds your nearest Omani Embassy and tells you how to contact that Embassy.<\/p>\n

Lost your passport? Need to contact your country\u2019s embassy in Oman? The Oman FM app is here to help.<\/p>\n

Using the app, Omanis travelling abroad can register with the local Omani Embassy so the embassy can get in touch with them, if there is a problem in the country they are visiting.<\/p>\n

The app is free and is available in Arabic and English versions.<\/p>\n

It offers useful help and advice whether you\u2019re an Omani travelling abroad or a visitor to Oman.<\/p>\n

The app can also send you alerts about travel problems and keep you up to date with the latest Foreign Ministry news.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

How to set up the Oman FM app<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

When you open the app for the first time you will be asked to choose whether you want to use the app in English or Arabic.<\/p>\n

The app will then ask you for the permissions needed to make sure you get the most from the app. It will ask to use your location and it will ask you for permission to send you notifications.<\/p>\n

Please tap on \u201caccept\u201d. If you do not accept, some important functions on the app will not work.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

You will then see system messages asking for the same permissions. Please allow both.<\/p>\n

If you do not allow notifications and location services some important functions on the app will not work. You can change these Settings at any time after you have set up the App.<\/p>\n

Tap on the blue bar at the bottom to see full details of the Embassy.<\/p>\n

Use the \u201cChange Location\u201d button to see the Omani Embassy for another country.<\/p>\n

If you are in Oman the app will detect this and will ask you to select from various options.<\/p>\n

If you tell the app that you are a visitor in Oman and then tell it what country you are from, it will show you the Embassy which provides cover for you in Oman.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Tap on the icon on the Home screen and the Oman FM app will then invite you to send your name and phone number to the relevant Embassy along with the length of your stay.<\/span><\/p>\n
